Facts About FAFSA |
|
For most federal student aid programs, the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the only form needed to file. If you have not already done so, see your counselor for a form or apply on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You need only apply once each school year.
After your completed application is received by the processing system, you will be sent a Student Aid Report (SAR) which will contain all the information from your application. If there are no questions or problems with your application, your SAR will show your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), the number used in determining your eligibility for federal student aid. The results will be sent to you and the schools that you listed on your application.
When you receive your SAT, you must review it carefully to make sure it is correct. If the data is correct and you do not need to make changes, you can receive financial aid on the basis of that information.
The financial aid administrator at your college or university of choice will put together a financial aid package that comes as close as possible to meeting your needs. You must make an appointment to see the administrator as soon as possible before classes begin.
If you have any questions or problems you can also call 1-800-4FED-AID to speak with a Customer Service Representative.
