Practice! Practice! Practice!

Band can be one of the most enjoyable classes your child will ever have if you encourage him/her to practice at home.  It is very important that your child review what is done in class every day.  You can help your child to be successful by trying some of the following:

• Give the student a special place to practice
• Purchase a folding music stand to be used at home
• encourage them to continue to practice, even when they encounter problems
• Compliment their playing and note progress often.
• Allow them to tape record themselves from time to time and listen weeks or months later to make progress obvious.
• Encourage your child to practice at least 30 minutes every day
• This year we will be keeping practice records to aid the students in their class preparations.
• Commit to private lessons.  We will be offering discounted lessons by local musicians here at Garfield.
