School Instruments

The Hamilton City School system has a limited number of older instruments, most of which are in reasonably good condition and are available to students to begin instrument instruction.  Students who receive these instruments must secure their own instrument by the conclusion of their sixth year in school or transferred to an instrument commonly owned and provided by the school.  These include French Horn, Sousaphone, Bass Clarinet, Baritone Sax, Oboe, Bassoon, etc., for band students and Cello and String Bass for string players.

Because the number of instruments is limited, assignments will be on the basis of financial need and probability of success. Those families whose income qualifies the student for free lunch will be considered first.  Test scores and teacher appraisals will also be strongly considered indicators of success.  If instrument supply is greater than the demand at this income level, other applicants will be considered in a like manner.

A non-refundable instrumental fee of twenty dollars ($20.00) will be required at the time of assignment.  Click here for Rental Application and the School Owned Instrument Loan Agreement form.
